Why we built this
Scroll through any social media feed and you'll find no shortage of passion for politics. People are fired up about Congress, the President, Supreme Court decisions. And that's fine — those things matter.
But the officials who set your property tax rate, decide what your kids learn in school, and determine whether your neighborhood gets a new road or a new development? Most people can't name a single one of them. Voter turnout in local elections regularly falls below 10%.
We built ivotelocal because that gap shouldn't exist. The information is out there — it's just buried in county websites, meeting minutes, and PDF documents that nobody reads. We do the work of pulling it together so you don't have to.
What ivotelocal does
Who's in office
Every elected official in your area — from county commissioners to judges — with their voting records, contact info, and priorities.
Who's running
Every race on your upcoming ballot explained clearly — what the office does, who the candidates are, and why it matters.
Community decisions
When your local government is about to make a decision that affects you, we surface it and let you weigh in before the vote.
Your match score
Take our 6-question quiz and see how closely each candidate's positions align with yours on the issues that matter locally.
How we operate
Nonpartisan
We don't endorse candidates or parties. We present information and let you decide. Every feature is designed to inform, not persuade.
Transparent sourcing
Every piece of data comes from official sources — state and county boards of elections, meeting minutes, and public records. We cite everything.
Local first
We started in Iredell County, NC because we believe local government is where change actually happens. We're building to expand community by community.
No ads
We don't run ads. We don't let anyone pay to promote a candidate or position. Revenue comes from sponsorships that are clearly labeled.
"These officials are critical to our day-to-day life. We should voice our opinion and help shape our community."
